A 47-year-old rural Brainerd man was killed Monday after losing control of an all-terrain-vehicle on a steep enbankment in a wooded area in Nokay Lake Township, Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl said.
Dahl said the rural Brainerd man had a passenger, a 21-year-old man from Montana, who was transported to Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby to be treated for injuries. Dahl didn’t know the extent of his injuries Monday night.
The call came in at 2:52 p.m. and the sheriff’s department was assisted by the DNR, Deerwood police and fire departments, Deerwood First Responders, North Ambulance and Air Care.
Dahl said at first it was difficult to locate the men because the area was heavily wooded. He said Air Care helped authorities locate the men.
Dahl said the name of the man will be released pending family notification.
“These are extremely tough situations,” said Dahl. “My heart goes out to the families.”
