Crow Wing County is updating its website and interactive GIS mapping services to make it easier for customers to access information. County officials said the improvements will make website navigation easier for visitors and offer more service options for customers who wish to receive information updates from the county.
Enhanced customer service options include giving users the option of signing up for alerts to keep informed of items of interest to them; items such as employment notices, community flu shot clinics and severe weather updates. The improved home page will allow easy, one-click access to upcoming county events and will highlight timely news items that may be of interest to the public. The GIS map service provides customers the ability to look up their property information, access previous years’ tax statements and/or land related permits all from a single location, 24 hours a day in the convenience of their home. Increased performance, improved draw tools and dynamic expandable/collapsible windows are just a few of the enhancements that users will experience with the new GIS mapping service.
The county’s new website homepage will also allow convenient links to county board information including meeting dates and contact information, and will now have an option to review frequently asked questions to assist customers in addressing their needs. Community links including information on local municipalities and recreational activities will also be easily accessible.
“We are excited to offer these enhancements to our website in an effort to continue to further the county’s mission to “provide high quality, cost-effective public services in a friendly and respectful manner,” said Crow Wing County Administrator Tim Houle. “These improvements will help our customers get more information without making a trip into the county courthouse if that is not convenient for them. We are pleased to provide this increase in efficiency and service to our customers.”
Feedback from the public is encouraged.

Who do we give feedback to about the site? Gotta link?
So far my impression of the new GIS site is that it is less friendly but I'm just trying to relearn it. The old site let you click anywhere on a parcel and pull up owner information. I don't think this one does that. So far I've had to type in a 15(?) digit parcel number many of which have 6 or even 7 consecutive zeros. It also has a toolbar that takes up more space on the map.

Thanks Denton.
Interesting new dashboard feature
Try out the new dashboard feature on the county website.
You can set it up to provide notice of new items added to specific departments pages. Very nice.
I registered and set my dashboard to notify me of updates from the highway department and emergency alerts.
Looks good to me.
