The two drivers who were injured Monday in a two-vehicle, head-on collision on Highway 371 north of Brainerd both had alcohol detected in their systems, reported the State Patrol.
The drivers were identified as Tina Bickford, 50, Brainerd, and David Eggert, 42, Backus.
Eggert, who was treated at Essentia Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd and released, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and criminal vehicular operations and is being held in Crow Wing County Jail.
The collision was reported at 3:54 p.m. on Highway 371 at See Gull Road north of Brainerd.
The State Patrol reported Bickford was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of Highway 371 when she collided head-on with Eggert’s vehicle.
Bickford suffered non life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Brainerd hospital. She was in stable condition Tuesday.

If "both had alcohol detected in their systems, reported the State Patrol." why was only Eggert arrested for DWI? They have this written up kind of goofy.
Probably because it also says
Probably because it also says she's still in the hospital. I bet she'll be charged when she gets out. Or maybe it depends on how much alcohol was in the system? I would think if anything she would be in more trouble because she was the one in the wrong lane.
