While the Brainerd School Board has called for a special board meeting at 8 a.m. Tuesday for a “negotiations update,” school officials are hoping that the board will be approving a contract settlement with teachers at this meeting.
Superintendent Steve Razidlo said Friday that the district may be releasing additional information sometime Monday. He said negotiating teams from the district and union spent last week working back and forth to reach a pending agreement. Teachers would have to vote and ratify a contract agreement before it could come before the school board for approval.
Tim Edinger, president of Education Minnesota Brainerd, responded late Friday night to a call about contract negotiations.
Edinger released the following statement:
“Education Minnesota Brainerd has a practice of not discussing contract negotiations while bargaining is ongoing. Since a new contract is not in effect, Education Minnesota Brainerd has no comment regarding contract negotiations at this time. Once a new contract is in place, I’d be more than willing to answer any questions the Dispatch would like to ask.”
The district and its teachers’ union are working to approve the 2011-13 master teachers’ contract, which would go into effect retroactively from July 1.
