Central Lakes College in Brainerd will host a basic motorcycle rider training class from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 20 or Sunday, Aug. 21 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The course is at the Business and Industry Center (entrance 6) and nearby riding space. Other dates for the training are Aug. 25, 27 and 28 and Sept. 8, 10 and 11.
Students must complete 14.5 hours of integrated instruction — 4.5 hours in the classroom and 10 hours of practice on a training motorcycle (provided).
While no previous motorcycle riding experience is required, it can be beneficial.
Students must possess a valid driver’s license or motor vehicle instruction permit. Students older than age 18 are eligible for the skills test waiver (motorcycle endorsement) if they have a valid motorcycle permit in possession at the start of the course.
Each student must furnish protective clothing and Department of Transportation approved helmet —100 percent attendance is mandatory.
The fee is $160, payable at registration. Deadline to register Thursday.
