A Minnesota Department of Transportation spokesman in St. Paul said Wednesday it was unclear how long it might take before road construction workers would be back at work on improvements to Highway 371 in Baxter.
The Highway 371 project, spokesman Kevin Gutknecht said, was one of 98 MnDOT projects suspended by the shutdown.
“The bottom line is we need to get our folks back in and get them adjusted to the work place again and talk to our contractors” he said. “We’re going to probably know in a few days what happens to all our projects.”
He noted that contractors may have laid off employees and moved equipment during the shutdown. They might not have the resources immediately available, he said.
