Lutheran Social Service operates the Bicycle Recycling Program as part of its Independent Living Skills classes for youth.
The program collects bicycles from the community, repairs them, and then issues them to those who need transportation or recreation options. The next recycling day is planned 10 a.m. to 2 pm. July 16 at the Northern Pines Mental Health Center Building on Ninth and Maple streets.
LSS is seeking volunteers who are mechanically inclined to help recycle bicycles and work with youth. For more information about volunteering, call Adam at 824-3770. Those who want to donate bicycles to the program may drop them off at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore across from the Armory on Wright Street or at the Northern Pines Building on July 16. Bicycle Request Forms are available at the LSS Office in the East Brainerd Mall for those who would like to request a bicycle.
