A 61-year-old Brainerd man was injured Sunday after the motorcycle he was driving was unable to stop and crashed into the vehicle in front of him on Highway 371 in Baxter, the Baxter Police Department reported.
The man, Chip Avelsgaard, was in critical condition at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Baxter police said.
Avelsgaard, who is a pastor at Oak Street Chapel in Brainerd, was not wearing a helmet.

My prayers go out to Chip. He did my marriage counseling and was the pastor for my wedding.

Our thoughts and prayers going out to Chip's whole family and congregation. He's a good man.
Does anyone know if this was the same accident that was at the fleet Farm light in Baxter? I'm confused because the police routed us around the scene of a motorcycle/car accident at that light, but it was 1:15pm Sunday and the article says the accident was reported 2:47pm.
