A residence in the 20000 block of Linberg Road south of Deerwood was destroyed by fire, Deerwood Fire Chief John Taylor said Monday.
Deerwood firefighters were first called to the fire about 2 p.m. Sunday. The home is listed by Crow Wing County as owned by the Alice Skattum trust.
Taylor said Deerwood and Crosby firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but not before the garage was destroyed. The fire also caused damage to the attic. There was smoke and water damage on the first level and water damage to the lower level.
Firefighters were able to get some of the homeowners personal belongings out of the house at that time, Taylor said.
About 4:30 a.m. Monday Deerwood firefighters were again called to the residence. When firefighters from Deerwood and Cuyuna arrived, the house was totally involved, Taylor said, and firefighters were unable to save the structure.
“Everything is lost now,” Taylor said.
No one was injured in the fire, Taylor said, and the State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause. Taylor said it appeared the fire started in the garage.
