State Rep. John Ward, DFL-Brainerd, would like area residents to know that free tax preparation help is available for qualifying residents.
If you’re a senior citizen, disabled citizen, or have an income of $35,000 or less ($45,000 or less for families), volunteers can help you prepare your federal and state tax returns. To find a location and what documents you need, go to this MN Department of Revenue website:taxes.state.mn.us/vita/pages/free_tax_prep.aspx
In addition, AARP Volunteer Tax Aides will prepare income tax forms, rent credit, and property tax refund forms for low-to-middle income folks in the Brainerd lakes area with a special focus on those over 60. Specific locations and dates and times are listed in the Brainerd Dispatch at:brainerddispatch.com/news/2011-01-25/local-news-briefs-jan-26.
