The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation is seeking nominations for its seventh annual Award in Philanthropy.
The award recognizes the efforts of an individual, couple or family that has significantly contributed to philanthropy in the region through personal giving, volunteerism or work as a professional advising their clients about philanthropy.
"From churches to schools, to the dozens of nonprofits meeting the needs of people of all ages under duress, philanthropy has an almost immeasurable positive impact on this area," Mike Burton, BLACF director, said. "The generosity and gifts of many, keep many others from falling into lives of despair and challenge, or provide resources to help others recover from difficulty."
The Award in Philanthropy was created in an effort to honor those who work to build a better community and inspire the next generation of philanthropic leaders. Among past recipients of the award are the Cote Family (2010), JoAnn and Arnie Johnson (2009), Kathy and Bruce Buxton (2008), Linda and Bernie Roberts (2007), Fran and Clarence Holden (2006), and John Sullivan (2005).
Deadline to submit a nomination is Feb. 4 . Forms are available online at www.communitygiving.org.
