Jinks and Lana Mulholland will serve an all-you-can-eat corned beef and cabbage dinner from noon to 4 p.m. March 17 at the Legion. Cost: $7.
Disabled American Veterans (DAV)
The monthly meeting for DAV Crow Wing County Chapter No. 22 will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Brainerd VFW Club. All members are invited to attend. Chapter 22 officers meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
Brainerd Elks Lodge Polish Sausage Feed
Brainerd Elks Lodge will have a Polish sausage feed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Elks Lodge, 215 South Ninth St., Brainerd. Cost: $8.
Sons of Norway
Sagatun Lodge 018 Sons of Norway will have its social meeting at 7 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Brainerd. Program: Candace Simar, author and poet from Pequot Lakes, will speak about her historical novels about Scandinavian immigrants. Appetizers and coffee will be served following the program.
Move over meat vegetarian cooking class
A free vegetarian cooking class will be 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Oak Street Christian School, 2910 Oak St., Brainerd.
Topic will be favorite salads and salad dressings.
Learn how and why to prepare food that is healthy. For those that might not be as familiar with vegetarian cooking, or, for that matter, cooking, there will be basic instruction on food preparation. Our leaders will also provide health information and the benefits of “Cooking by the Book.”

Used book sale at Brainerd Public Library
Friends of the Brainerd Public Library will hold its 2012 Spring Used Book Sale from March 22-24 in the conference room at the library. Hours on March 22 and 23 are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and March 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Book sellers are welcome after noon March 22. On March 24, all books will be sold for $2 per bag.
All proceeds benefit the Brainerd Public Library. For more information call the library at 829-5574.
Peer support group offered in Brainerd
A NAMI Connection peer support group for adults recovering from mental illness meets weekly in Brainerd. The free group is sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota. Trained facilitators who are also in recovery lead NAMI Connection groups. The group meets at Our Place, 606 Front St., in Brainerd on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. For information contact NAMI at (888) NAMI-Helps.
VFW Post and Auxiliary monthly meetings will be held at the Post home at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Friday dinner will be butterfly shrimp being served from 5:30 p.m. until gone. Cost $8.

Retired Firefighters will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Wings Restaurant. All retired firefighters, spouses, widows and friends are welcome.

Annual pancake breakfast
PINE RIVER — Pine River-Backus Boy Scout Troop 73 annual pancake breakfast will be 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 1 at the Pine River American Legion Post No. 613. Cost: $5, adults; $3, children, 4-10; free to children 3 and under.
This event is the primary fundraiser for the year and helps offset the cost to the boys attending summer camp.

Brainerd Lakes Area Early Childhood Coalition
The Brainerd Lakes Area Early Childhood Coalition in partnership with Essentia Health will be offering Boot Camp for New Dads from 6-9 p.m. March 20 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. Boot Camp for New Dads is a nationally licensed program, facilitated by men, which is designed to give expectant fathers a place to learn from experienced fathers. NARVRE Unit No. 127
NARVRE Unit No. 127, Brainerd, will meet from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library meeting room. Note time change. All present and retired railroad employees, spouses, widows and widowers of railroad employees are eligible and welcome to attend. Lunch will be served.
Ruby’s Pantry is a mission outreach where participants give a cash donation of $15 to cover expenses of the program and in return receive corporate surplus food. The variety and amount varies each month; however, the value of what is received generally averages $50-$100. Participants need to bring containers to carry their food home. No income guidelines. Ruby’s Pantry will be at Brainerd Armory on Wright Street the second Tuesday of each month. The next distribution from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday with doors opening at 9 a.m.
A square dance will be held Friday at the Franklin Arts Center with Phil Miller calling. Plus will begin at 7:30 p.m. and Mainstream from 8-10 p.m. Wear something green.
American Diabetes Association, Brainerd Lakes Area Chapter
The American Diabetes Association, Brainerd Lakes Area Chapter, will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bonanza in Baxter. There will be a presentation on “Tools for dealing with diabetes: Motivational and Emotional Issues” by Jeanne Kurtz, Northern Psychiatry.
