Jonathan E. Keranen, son of Hannah Keranen, Brainerd, was recently commissioned by his oldest sister, Mary Clement, who is a captain in the Air Force of 16 years, into the United States Air Force as second lieutenant. He will report to NAS Whiting Field in Pensacola, Fla., in February to being pilot training. He also graduated from NDSU in Fargo, N.D., with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
Erik S. Willer, son of John Willer, Breezy Point, and Vicki Willer, Sauk Centre, recently enrolled in the Army ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) program at the University of North Dakota. Upon graduation and completion of ROTC Military Science courses at the host university, the cadet receives a bachelor’s degree and a commission of second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
Army Pvt. Luke A. Stone, son of Lisa D. and Anders J. Stone, Cushing, recently graduated from the Fire Support Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. The field artillery specialists serve in intelligence activities including target processing in field artillery, cannon battalions, division artillery, artillery and maneuver brigade and headquarters and fire support elements.
John D. Sherman, son of Vallory M. Sherman, Pequot Lakes, was recently promoted to the rank of senior master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Sherman is the airman family readiness center noncommissioned officer in charge at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. The new senior master sergeant has served in the military for 21 years.
