■ Micah Topete

Grade: Sophomore.

Age: 15.

Art focus: Brainerd High School: Electronic Art.

Adviser nomination: “Micah has done an amazing job in Electronic Art this year. He goes above and beyond on his work and has spent time using Photoshop at home. He has truly shown an enthusiasm for learning in this class.”

Artist most admired: Laurel Faust, an American animator.

Tell me about Electronic Art: “We use computer programs to enhance art we find on the Internet or art we create.

“Right now I’m working on a hand drawn sketch. I’m outlining it using Photoshop and doing a custom background. The sketch is of an angel on a cloud with a demon shadow. I like it, it’s pretty cool. I drew it with pencil.”

What do you hope to accomplish in class: “I hope it’ll help me with my future art classes. I’ve only sketched with pencil. I’m learning how to shadow and enhance art to make it better. I’m learning what I can and can’t do on the computer programs.”

Your greatest strength in class: “My creativity. I have a lot of variety. I can be dark or light, happy or sad.”

How much time do you spend on one project: “Some projects take three days and others take a week.”

Favorite book: “Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire.”

Favorite movie: “Dark Knight.”

Last movie you saw in the theater: “Wolverine 2.”

Favorite song: “Everywhere I Go.”

Favorite band: “Hollywood Undead.”

Video game you’re the best at: “Super Mario World.”

Worst meal: “My little sister made pancakes and she left baking powder on the pancakes. It was pretty nasty.”

Other activities/clubs: Anime Club.

Parents: Alisha and Mario Topete of Brainerd.
