Staples library offers programs

STAPLES — The Staples Public Library is offering the following programs.

Beginning Memoir Writing will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 13 for adults and older teens. The program will be presented by writer Angela Foster. Participants are asked to bring notebooks and pens. Foster will explain how to transfer memories to paper through the use of prompts and free writes. She will talk about the basics of memoir writing and the details that bring memoirs to life. Participants will leave the class with at least three works in progress and ideas for many more. The attendance limit is 30 and preregistration is required. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

The Friends of the Staples Public Library will host the used book sale Nov. 16-17 in the Staples Council Chamber. The sale is a fundraiser for library resources and programs and will offer a variety of books for a nominal fee.

From 2-3 p.m. Nov. 18, will be the Author Talk program with Frederick Blanch and it will be held at the historic Staples Depot. Blanch will read from his book “Last Words: Frederick’s Bionary,” which is a collection of personal stories and reflections themed around specific words. This presentation is for adults. Blanch is an experienced writer with a broad resume including a nomination for a Minnesota Book Award, poetry, magazine articles and other published work. His presentation is co-sponsored by the Staples Historical Society and funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
