Radiation Therapy Center in Brainerd would like to thank watercolor artist Kathy Kovala with her gift to the center. Kovala of Brainerd, presented Shannon Wentzel, chief therapist of the Brainerd Radiation Therapy Center, a Giclee print of her painting called “Initial Inspiration.“ The painting is an actual “swamp” that is located in the Big Bay area of Northern Michigan. Kathy was taking a class with noted artist, Nita Engle of Marquette, Mich., and photographed the scene on an outing with the artist. Kathy was so inspired by the way the watercolor “painted itself” with washes of paint that it was the deciding factor in her becoming a watercolorist. This painting was given as a memorial gift in honor of Ross Olander, a close friend who passed away of pancreatic cancer in August of this year.
