What are you doing: “I’m waiting for my sister who’s having her taxes done (on Feb. 2 at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center in Brainerd.)”
What are you making: “I’m knitting a lace scarf. I got one as a gift and I now make them.”
Other things do you make: “I also crochet and sew. I’ve made kids’ clothes, baby blankets, purses, lots of stuff. I’ve also sold my stuff at many places over the years.”
Your favorite hobby: “Crocheting. I learned to crochet in grade school. My teacher taught me. The first thing I made was a pot holder.”
Proudest thing you’ve made: “Baptism gowns. I’ve made them for my grandchildren. I also make bonnets and booties to go with them.”
Family: Husband, Quentin, 15 children, 66 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. “I lost one when he was 21-months-old. He was No. 13.”
Any new experiences today: “I tasted the doughnuts here at the senior center for the first time. I’ve heard about them, a lot of residents in my building (where I live) get them on Thursdays.”
Favorite author: Janette Oke.
Favorite dessert: Specialty cakes.
Family memory: “Last Christmas I decided to do something different. I usually wrap gifts for the grandchildren, but this time I put all of my homemade items out on a table for the grandchildren to pick one out. I put all their names in a bowl and when I picked their name they went up to the table and picked out an item. It was so fun to see which item they’d chose.”
