The shutdown is beginning to affect all of us

The shutdown is beginning to affect all of us. We've all noticed some government service that is not available during the shutdown. Restaurant openings are being delayed while waiting for inspectors. Daycares are laying off staff members because some children have been pulled out during the shutdown. Haircuts have been delayed. Fewer groceries are being purchased. No cars, trucks, boats nor ATVs are being purchased. Fewer tourists are visiting the area. Road repairs are being delayed.

It's not just the 22,000 employees that have been affected -- it's now Main Street that is affected. The drop in money circulating in our local economy is beginning to impact all of us. The shut down has been an expensive exercise into understanding what it is that government really does for the common good. We may need to admit that most of what the government does is helpful and that it is time to get government back to work.

Crisis?

I wasn't aware that there was a crisis. All that is happening is that a bunch of greedy people sucking at the breast of the tax payers have had to suck their thumbs for a few days. Leave them out of work for a few years and see if they come around to a new way of thinking. That is my opinion.

fish you think the state may

fish you think the state may get back all the money they invest in stadiums and then some. Why do you think almost every market that has had a pro team and has lost it is either trying to get one back or got one back. Did you know everytime a team plays every player, coach and person that works for the team pays state income tax, just imagine how much money is earned every time the yankees come to town. So lets not build them a stadium and let them move to another state that will. Until no states are willing to put up money for stadiums thats the price the state will have to pay to keep them.

What or better yet who is running…

The state of Minnesota. It appears no one. The Governor needs to call the legislative bodies back into session. Right now, he appears to be a loose canon at the helm.

Stop the Partisanship “NOW” get of the dime and act like the elected adults you should be.

I believe that in the upcoming elections, all incumbents should be voted out. I know the baby goes out with the bath water. But maybe that is what is need.
