PATIENTS at the old Northern Pacific hospital were mostly railroad men injured along the lines. The hospital was divided into two wards. An addition to the north was used for an office, drug room and sleeping room for doctors.

The Brainerd Nursing Home is a private home owned by Lester Damrow and Kenneth. Herd, who is also the administrator.

The Home is divided into two sections -- the original building that was built in 1945 by Dorothy Collette, the former owner, and a new addition added by the present owners in 1962. The Brainerd Nursing Home has a capacity of 41 beds.

Dorothy Collette owned the original building and operated the home from 1945 to 1961; the present owners have operated the Home since that date.

The Home is licensed by the Minnesota State Board of Health.

The Home has a very active activity and recreational program which helps to meet the residents' spiritual and physical needs.
