Lyman P White often is called the father of Brainerd. He arrived here by stage from Sauk Rapids and Crow Wing in 1870. Known as "Pussy" White, he built the city's first residence and became a prominent citizen of the new town. He died Aug. 28, 1902, at the age of 92 and is buried here.
