Mons Malilum First Headed Sons of Norway
The Sons of Norway Lodge, Sagatun No. 18, was organized March 10, 1903, with Mons Mahlum as president. The Lodge is a fraternal organization with insurance and social activities for its membership of Norwegian descent.
Early members also included Asle Trommald, Ole Satre, Lars Meas, C. N. Olson, Dagfred Olson, Paul and Arne Dybvik and others. Many social events were held, along with various cooperative ventures in activities in the community.
The children and grandchildren of early members continue to keep membership in the lodge with over 150 at the present time. A recently inaugurated program is the teaching of a Norwegian class by Marit Ohlin, assisted by Mervin Larson, counselor.
Mrs. Christine Rowland is president at the present time with Mrs. Ohlin as vice president, Violet MacPherson, secretary; John Nelson, treasurer.
