Kiwanis Club Is Chartered Oct. 18, 1954
The Kiwanis club of Brainerd marked its origin here with a Charter Night program on Oct. 18, 1954, at the Brainerd Country club.
The Governor of the Minnesota - Dakota District, Kiwanis, International, was present to make the charter presentation to officers, George Bates, president; Robert Russell, Sr., vice president; and Richard Neville, secretary-treasurer.
Directors of the Kiwanis club here at that time were Allen Freeman, Dr. Paul K. Hendricks, Fred Kellett, Russell LaCourse, Donald J. Peterson, Nelson Roberts and Ray Ruttger. Another 23 men were listed as charter members.
Present officers of the Kiwanis club are: Wayne Larson, president; Robert Gross and Fred Casey, first and second vice presidents; Warren Murphy, secretary; Aaron Fieldman, treasurer. Bob Kasper is the immediate past president.
