Fourth Avenue Church Numbers Twenty Members
The Church of Christ had its beginning in Brainerd in October of 1968. For the first two months, services were held in homes or some rented public building. In December of that year, the group purchased the Zimmerman apartment and store building at 302 Fourth Avenue N. E.
This building has been remodeled so that now there is an auditorium seating about 80 people, three classrooms, a study, baptistery, two rest-rooms and a large apartment upstairs tor the preacher and his family.
At the beginning there were two members in Brainerd. Since then, they have held four gospel meetings which resulted in several baptisms and they now number 20. They conduct a local radio program twice a day.
Gordon Makool, the preacher in Wadena, began the work here, driving back and forth to conduct the services. In January of 1969, Harry E. Johnson, the present preacher, moved here from Montrose, Colo.
