Industrial Park Is 'New Look'
One of the most recent developments in Brainerd's history of industrial expansion is the new Industrial Park located in south Brainerd along 13th Street and across from the fairgrounds.
The park encompasses 133 acres and was developed at the cost of some $1,000,000.
Almost half of the money for the park's development came in the form of a government grant -- $500,000.
The site was further enhanced this past summer by the construction of a building.
Brainerd labor groups furnished the manpower and local businesses and industry provided the materials at cost.

+ Serving as postmasters of Brainerd from 1870 to 1900 were: Samuel Thayer, 1870-73; Sylvester V. R. Sherwood, 1873- 79; Wilder Hartley, 1879-86; John K o o p, 1886-89; Calvin Spaulding, 1889-91; William Dur- ham, 1891-96; Charles D. Johnson, 1896-1900.
+ The first home was built in Brainerd in 1870 by Charles Darby.

The result is a structure which is standing and ready for so me industry to move in.
Working hard in an effort to make this happen is CIyde Gorham, former mayor, who is now working as city coordinator.
Responsible in large part for the development of the new park is Build Brainerd, Inc., which was established with the sole purpose in mind of helping industry to locate here.
