Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club-Crow Wing County Muzzle Loaders-Black Powder Event-September 23, 2012

Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club September Events--Open to Families and the Public

Heard Along The Trails:
The Wealthwood Rod And Gun Club Presents The Crow Wing County Muzzle Loaders Exhibition Shoot Sunday, September 23, 2012.

1:00PM-4PM at the Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club Shooting Range, Aitkin, MN.
The Crow Wing County Muzzle-Loaders Club got its start in 1977. There were monthly Sunday Shoots at Bock’s Gun Shop near Brainerd. We have been building, buying, trading and shooting traditional muzzle loading firearms ever since. We are students of history and have had many interesting presentations of our country’s firearm history since the early 18th century. We now have our own range tucked away in the woods somewhere between Merrifield and Crosslake. We only allow traditional Black Powder firearms in our competitions and to become a full-fledged member you most own and shoot one of these fine guns.

The Crow Wing County Muzzle Loaders have virtually all taken big game with their rifles and it was some of us and like-minded hunters that got the Muzzleloader Season introduced in Minnesota long before anyone ever heard of an inline rifle using a Saboted (Sabot: {French}, is a device used in a firearm or cannon to fire a projectile, such as a bullet, that is smaller than the bore diameter, or which must be held in a precise position.
The public is invited to this special Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club event and we would like to invite everyone to take part in all Shotgun Shooting Venues while visiting the club. The Club will be open until 8PM the day of the event.

We welcome new people to our group and will tutor anyone interested in shooting a traditional muzzle-loader.

The Muzzle Loaders will be on-site at the Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club between 1PM and 4PM. They will be dressed in period clothing, provide Black Powder Exhibition Shooting and will demonstrate loading and firing and also be happy to provide real hands-on experiences to those who want to fire traditional Black Powder Muzzle Loader flintlock or a percussion side lock rifle or pistol.

If you have a Muzzle Loader Rifle or Shotgun of your own, you are encouraged to bring it along. However, no “In-Line” guns are permitted. They were some marketing man’s way of getting those who wanted another hunting season without having to learn how to use a traditional front-stuffer.

Location: The Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club is located one mile east of Highway 169 on Highway 18 along the north shore of Lake Mille Lacs. Signage for the club is on the right side of Highway 18. All other shooting venues will open for use on the special event day.
