DEERWOOD — Storyhill, the Red House Records acoustic duo of Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson is set for Storyhill Fest 2013. John Gorka and Raina Rose will join Storyhill as the headline artists for the three-day festival held at the Clearwater Forest Camp in Deerwood this weekend, August 30-Sept. 1.
Focused on original singer/songwriters, the festival’s lineup includes Justin Roth, Amy Speace, Connor Garvey, The Sea, Robby Hecht, Sweet Talk Radio, Cary Cooper, the Roe Family Singers plus new additions: Carrie Elkin, Danny Schmidt, and Mother Banjo.
Designed to be an intimate, interactive event for its fans, Storyhill Fest is a music and camping experience with multiple offerings and activities for all ages and interests, including guided kayak trips, nature hikes, and unforgettable campfires.
Cunningham and Hermanson, who originally are from Bozeman, Mont., started hosting Storyhill Fest in Minnesota five years ago. Modeled after their original festival in the mountains of Montana, this is the ninth Storyhill Fest they have produced. “When designing the fest, we wanted a place to bring all of our friends together,” said Hermanson. “Storyhill Fest has always been a weekend I look forward to spending with great songwriters, musicians and great fans.”
Clearwater Forest Camp is located in the Brainerd lakes area, which is one of Minnesota’s most popular and beautiful recreational areas. In addition to the site’s conveniences that make for an easy camping experience, like multiple camping options and permanent bathrooms, it is home to an astonishing variety of plant and wildlife species, including 200-year-old pine trees, Lady Slippers, bald eagles and more. Most of Clearwater Forest’s 1,016 acres of forest and 3.5 miles of lakeshore are pristine and undeveloped. Storyhill Fest tickets are available online at StoryhillFest.com. Full festival camping passes include camping/lodging, full camp access, all performances and activities. Group and individual day passes also are available.
