Two River Music Fest scheduled this weekend

Prairiegrass, a bluegrass band, will perform Friday at the sixth annual Two Rivers Music Fest and Craft Fair at the Fairgrounds in Motley.

MOTLEY — The sixth annual Two Rivers Music Fest and Craft Fair will be held Friday through Sunday at the Fairgrounds in Motley.

The free three-day event was established to provide an annual family entertainment event through music that will range from bluegrass, country, gospel, variety and old-time; arts and crafts; and fireworks. It’s a free event and spectators should bring their own lawn chairs.

The festival begins at noon Friday with the craft fair/food vendors; from 2-6 p.m., there will be local talent opportunities; from 4-6 p.m., a pie and ice cream social, United Methodist Church; and at 6 p.m. music begins with a bluegrass band called Prairiegrass.

Saturday’s event begins at 7 a.m. with a pancake, sausage and egg breakfast, sponsored by Motley’s Fire Department. A parade commences at 11 a.m. and will offer a “wedding in progress.” At noon, a brief ceremony by Motley’s Veterans in Veteran’s Park and the craft fair. Kiddie Land opens at noon for youth of all young ages, with activities and games concluding at 5 p.m.

Bands on Saturday include: The Jolly Zuks (Florian Chmielewski, Jr.), performing at noon, playing old time music, from old standards to newer artists. At 3 p.m., Tami and the Bachelor, a national touring band from Minneapolis, will provide a variety of music styles. At 6 p.m., Wayne Renn plays classic country up to today’s top 40 hits.

At 10 p.m., fireworks will be displayed to celebrate Motley’s 125 year anniversary as a city.

At 10:30 a.m. Sunday there will be a non-denominational, community church service. At noon, Alan Godage will be performing gospel and country with his band, the Sundowns. Food, arts and crafts will continue until 4 p.m.
