Brainerd dancers perform at Outback Bowl
Brainerd Just For Kix sent 18 dancers to perform in the Jan. 2 pre-game and half-time Outback Bowl game in Tampa, Fla., between Michigan State and Georgia with Michigan winning in triple overtime.
Dancers performed before a crowed of 55,000 plus fans at the Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There were 300 dancers that performed in pre-game and half-time show. The pre-game show performance was a Patriotic Tribute that was performed just before the National Anthem. During the half-time show, the dancers were arranged on the field from the 35-35 yard lines. The mass band of 1,500 surrounded the dancers on the field. The Half-Time Kickin’ It Country themed show featured such numbers as “Oh Suzanna,” “Get Along Home Cindy Cindy,” “Silver Haired Daddy” and “Buffalo Girls.” All the dancers came to close the half-time show with a Patriotic Finale’. Choreography was done by Cindy Clough, executive director of Just For Kix.
In an email release, Clough said, “The Brainerd group was great this year. The moms who chaperoned ... I think were amazed to see the whole show come together. We had dancers from 14 states. We only had 12 hours of practice to put together a nine-minute show. They worked hard but managed to have fun as well.”
Chaperones and family members traveling from Brainerd were: Lori Abear, Matt and Amanda Clough, Jody Davis, Robin Halverson, Cindy, Jarrett and Madison Leas, Vicki Mann, Maureen Mau, Rhonda McKeever, Amy Nameniuk, Tina Perrin, LeAnn Peterson and Ambre Sollid.
