The Cass County Economic Development Corporation is looking for individuals and businesses in Hackensack and Walker seeking rehabilitation of their property.
Funding is available through a joint Small Cities Development Program (SCDP) grant. Applications should be started before July 1. Funds are available to rehabilitate four owner-occupied homes, six commercial buildings in the targeted area of the cities of Hackensack and Walker. Common upgrades include roof replacement, windows and doors, insulation, foundation work, and handicapped accessible entrances. All rehabilitation completed must be for health and safety issues, handicapped accessibility, or increased energy efficiency.
Owner-occupied housing requests are based on income eligibility of the applicant. A maximum of $20,000 is available for each home. Homeowners are required to provide 20 percent of the total cost of rehabilitation using their own funds or other grant options; 80 percent of the funds are paid for by SCDP.
Commercial rehab projects have a $25,000 maximum with 50 percent of the project costs paid by the owner and a 50 percent match by the SCDP.
