Sarah Stonich is the seventh and final author in the Friends of the Brainerd Public Library Brown Bag Lunch Summer Authors' Series.  She will appear at the library on Monday, July 25, from noon to 1pm.  Feel free to bring a bag lunch or enjoy the light refreshments.  All are welcome, and there is no charge.

Brainerd Public Library presents, Professor Marvel's World of Wonders

ONE WORLD ... SO MANY STORIES! People say that there are only seven wonders of the world. Professor Marvel has set out to prove them wrong.

Each time a book is opened regular readers have the opportunity to explore amazing worlds, meet outrageous characters, and learn how to do the most extraordinary things.  In short, every book is in and of itself a world of wonders.

Walk the same streets as railroad tycoons, blacksmiths, bank robbers and more.  Downtown Brainerd has a wealth of fascinating history and it is NOW all freely available to you.  Through a collaboration of the Brainerd History Group, the Brainerd Public Library, the Crow Wing County Historical Society and a tremendous group of volunteers, you can now tour the history of Brainerd in a variety of formats.

Laugh and be entertained by Monica Ferris, author of the Needlecraft Mystery series, Monday, July 11 at noon, at the Brainerd Public Library.  Ferris will talk about the inspiration for her books, as well as the frustrations and rewards of real-life needlework projects.

In honor of the Independence Day Holiday, the Brainerd Public Library will be closed on Monday, July 4th.

We will reopen on Tuesday, July 5th at 9:00 a.m.

Join us for Wendy Webbs talk about her 2011 Minnesota Book Award winning novel, The Tale of Halcyon Crane,on Monday June 27, noon at the Brainerd Public Library.  In, The Tale of Halcyon Crane, Hallie James was told that her mother died in a fire decades earlier, only to discover that she was actually alive until very recently. In search of answers, Hallie travels to the place where her mother lived and discovers dark family secrets.  Webb lives in  Duluth, she is the editor-in-chief of Duluth~Superior Magazine.

Brainerd History Walk - Downtown Tour

Tuesday, June 21th at 10:00am and 5:30pm


Registration is required and space is limited. The tours are approximately one hour in length and cover the history of 34 downtown Brainerd locations. We will begin the tour with a movie premiere of "Brainerd Begins" and "The Brainerd Historic Water Tower."

The Brainerd Public Library announces the author line-up for our 11th annual Brown Bag Lunch Summer Authors' Series.  Each event is at the Brainerd Public Library on seven Mondays in June and July from noon to 1pm.  You are welcome to bring a bag lunch or just come to enjoy an hour with Minnesota author.  These events are sponsored by the Friends of the Brainerd Public Library and the Legacy Amendment.  There is no charge for these events and all are welcome.

Doug Ohman will be discussing  Libraries of Minnesota on June 6th at 12:00pm.
