Are you ready to embark on a high-tech mystery? “Geocaching a Minnesota Mystery” is now available at the Brainerd Public Library! Through collaboration with the Minnesota State Parks, the Crow Wing County Historical Society, and the Kitchigami Regional Library system “Geocaching a Minnesota Mystery” brings history, technology, storytelling, and the outdoors together. Geocaching is a modern-day treasure hunt. It is an outdoor activity combining hiking, exploring, and a hand-held Global Positioning System (GPS) to locate caches.
The Brainred Public Library is preparing for the second installment of the our Ancestry Workshops. The workshops are for intermediate genealogy researchers and will focus on immigration, naturalization records, military records, periodical and county resources. The classes are free and everyone is welcome.
The Brainerd Public Library announces the author line-up for our 11th annual Brown Bag Lunch Summer Authors' Series. Each event is at the Brainerd Public Library on seven Mondays in June and July from noon to 1pm. You are welcome to bring a bag lunch or just come to enjoy an hour with Minnesota author. These events are sponsored by the Friends of the Brainerd Public Library and the Legacy Amendment. There is no charge for these events and all are welcome.

Join us for Wendy Webbs talk about her 2011 Minnesota Book Award winning novel, The Tale of Halcyon Crane,on Monday June 27, noon at the Brainerd Public Library. In, The Tale of Halcyon Crane, Hallie James was told that her mother died in a fire decades earlier, only to discover that she was actually alive until very recently. In search of answers, Hallie travels to the place where her mother lived and discovers dark family secrets. Webb lives in Duluth, she is the editor-in-chief of Duluth~Superior Magazine.
