You’ll have “Felt” the Fun with Artist Michelle Pfeiffer*
We’re transforming our story time area into a huge felt wall. Local artist Michelle Pfeiffer will join us to show children how to create some fun felt art pieces that they can use on the new interactive felt wall. Each story time has a special time and theme:
Bring your children to the Brainerd Public Library for an upcycling art project during their day off of school on Thursday, October 18. Happy Dancing Turtle will be at the Brainerd Public Library on Thursday, October 18th at 10am to work with children to use old fabric to create a new quilt. We will be reading "Joseph Had a Little Overcoat" by Simms Taback and then together we will create a design on a square of old fabric, which we will then make into a small quilt for display in the library. Registration is required by call the library at 829-5574.
The Kitchigami Regional Library System has launched the 3M Cloud Library eBooks service to all Kitchigami cardholders on September 20th. The new service can be found on the Kitchigami webpage at http://www.krls.org.
Carrie Vecchione and Rolf Erdahl, a husband and wife instrumental duo, will visit the Brainerd Public Library on Thursday, September 20 at 11:30am. They will present a recital of music through the ages up to the engaging new repertoire composed for them, with classical crossovers infused with jazz, tango, and folksongs. Hear Carrie Vecchione, oboe/English horn, and Rolf Erdahl, double bass, perform music that "grabs your ear as the ink dries, and sends you out the door humming a new tune!”
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month
Throughout September when a child under 10 receives a new library card, a library football player will move one yard. Once the football player gets a touch down the library will have a football party! With thanks to a generous donation the children will also receive a free tote bag and book with their new card. Go Team!

Play from CLIMB Theatre preformed at the Brainerd Public Library August 9th at 11:30am
CLIMB Theatre will present The Tortoise and the Hare, especially for ages 3-8 and their families, with interactive fun. They will be at the Brainerd Public Library on Thursday, August 9th performing at 11:30am.
The Friends of the Brainerd Public Library Brown Bag Lunch Summer Author Series will be hosting author Alice Palace on Monday, July 30 at 12:00pm at the Brainerd Public Library.
The Friends of the Brainerd Public Library’s last Brown Bag Lunch of the summer features Alice Palace, an illustrator and author of a 10-book series of children’s books about a little boy named Marvin. Alice is a resident of Emily, Minnesota, and will talk about her experiences writing and illustrating books, greeting cards, and gifts of all kinds.
Eric Dregni is our seventh author in the Brainerd Public Library Brown Bag Lunch Summer Authors’ series. He will speak Monday, July 23rd from noon to 1pm at the Brainerd Public Library. His talk will focus on his latest book, Vikings in the Attic: In Search of Nordic America, published by the University of Minnesota Press.
