Make 12-12-12 count

Today's date presents a dozen opportunities.
Especially for those who like lists or who see the benefit in taking stock of where things are and where we might like to see them in the future.
Getting through the daily grind tends to absorb all the spare energy, add to that the bustle of the holiday season and December becomes a sleepless blur.
But today is worth taking a few minutes for reflection.
Make a list — it could be 12 things you'd like to achieve in the next 12 months, or 12 things to do in the next 12 years, or maybe it's 12 goals for a lifetime.
A number of people made a wish today as a string of twelves met at 12:12 p.m. on the 12th day of the 12th month. I tried making 12, although it may have diluted the wish pool. What would you have included for that moment? Would you wish for a safer world, economic stability, health of family and friends, politicians who put country above party, for the furnace to keep running, for a chance to make a difference in someone's life, the opportunity to live up to your own potential or, perhaps, the wisdom to know when to seize an opportunity. For some, those wishes might have been as simple as food in the fridge, a warm place to call home, a good-paying job, or a way to pay all the bills and have a little left over at the end of the month. Big or small, make a wish or write a list. And if things seem a bit bleak at the moment, write down 12 things you are thankful for now like the Irving Berlin's Christmas song:
"If you're worried and you can't sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
And you'll fall asleep
Counting your blessings."
