If you don't like the weather - wait

Minnesota's mercurial spring just took another turn, adding white stuff to the mix after pretty much shunning snow when it was welcome in late December, January, February and even March.
It's good for the fire prevention. After this last downpour of rain, the green-up could be in full flight if the sun came back with just a little punch. While the sun was out this afternoon, it wasn't enough to entirely melt the snow in Brainerd yards.
So now, after Mother Nature pulled a fast one and started spring early with temperatures that broke records across 25 states, we're back to below normal temps and snow on the tulips. Coming on the heels of a largely lackluster summer last year, I'm ready for a long spring. Before the deer flies are so ferocious they chase you from the Paul Bunyan State Trail, before the mosquitoes drive you away from the joy of a soft warm breeze at dusk, before the tick diseases make you fear every blade of grass, can't we just get some quality days in with sun and blossoms and a real enjoyable, long spring without any steps backward to a lost winter? Is that too much to hope for? I think not.
