For moviegoers the recently announced renovations to the Movies 10 in Baxter are coming at a good time but they may be measured by what’s happening about 60 miles to the south.
The Parkwood 18 movie theater in Waite Park is in the middle of a major renovation that will change the movie-going experience.
The Marcus Theatres cinema reports it is renovating every square inch of the place. Major changes are the addition of a restaurant — the Zaffiro’s Pizzeria and Bar.
Beyond that three of the movie auditoriums are being converted to luxury style seating with leather recliners, side tables, and 16-additional inches of legroom for those who need that space.
“The remaining 14 auditoriums, with a total of 2,550 seats, will be updated with wide, comfortable memory-foam velour cushioned seats with reclining backs,” Parkwood Cinema reported. “The upgraded seats will allow guests to adjust the seat-back to their personal preference and provide better support. The theatre’s restrooms will also be remodeled as part of the renovations.”
Also in the mix, an expanded food and beverage area and Zaffiro’s Express, which will serve many items on the Zaffiro’s restaurant menu.
The restaurant is replacing one of the theater’s movie auditoriums.
The restaurant is slated to be ready in time for the holidays. Waite Park is the second restaurant for the Marcus. It’s first is in Mequon, Wis.
Menu items include “kitchen sink salad, delicious pastas and sandwiches, homemade soups and mouth-watering desserts,” Marcus reported. “Zaffiro’s will also include a full bar with signature drink selections, an extensive wine and beer list and other cocktail selections. Other features will include a carryout service, live acoustic music on Fridays, patio seating and iPads for guests to enjoy as they dine.”
Zaffiro’s restaurant is scheduled to be completed by December with the rest of the renovations anticipated to be finished in early 2012.
