Brainerd lakes area residents who watch the Super Bowl on Sunday may want to pay special attention to the halftime show. A 2007 Brainerd High School graduate, Ali Clough, has a great opportunity to dance in the show with the famous band — the Black Eyed Peas.
Ali and her mother, Cindy Clough, both of rural Brainerd have been down in Texas all week working on the choreography for the halftime show. Ali got to work with Fatima Robinson, a famous choreographer.
In an e-mail Cindy Clough wrote: “Last night (Wednesday) we were able to go to the live practice with the Black Eyed Peas (BEP). There were eight dancers who came from LA (Los Angeles) with the BEP. Ali, who will dance with the BEP during the half-time show at the Super Bowl Sunday was on the stage, as the other 39 stage performers were not able to make it due to the ice storm.
“Ali and I were also part of a group who recorded a voice over track for the actual performance. Crowd noise, chanting, clapping. It had to be done in the stadium for the acoustics to be correct. We yelled parts of the songs with a group of about 60 people. Such as Pump it, louder, pump it louder. It was fun.
“And let me tell you Ali is having the time of her life.”
Clough said tonight (Friday) is the full dress rehearsal for the half-time show, so Ali is still in Texas.
Clough, who is currently in Brainerd, would still be in Texas for the Super Bowl, but she flew back to Brainerd as she is the head coach for the Brainerd High School dance team that will compete Saturday at the Section 8-3A dance competition at Elk River High School. Clough will then fly back to Texas Sunday morning.
