Wolfgang Amadeus MOZART: Symphony No. 40 in G minor (1788)
Felix MENDELSSOHN: ‘Scherzo’ from A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1842)
Ludwig van BEETHOVEN: ”Triple” Concerto in C Major, op. 56, for Violin, Cello, and Piano (1803)
The Festival will come to a brilliant close with works for chamber orchestra by three of the most famous classical masters. First, Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 is a favorite the audience is sure to recognize. Next, in a showcase of virtuosity, the orchestra will perform the elfin Scherzo from young Felix Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The season concludes in full force with a dramatic concerto for violin, cello, piano, and orchestra, by Beethoven.
