Free Bus Tour Opportunities

Register at the Brainerd Public Library for a chance to take a free bus tour to the:

• Minnesota History Center for Minnesota’s Greatest Generation Exhibit on August 18.
AND the
• Minnesota Science Museum in Minneapolis to see the Real Pirates Exhibit on August 25
The bus tour to the Science Museum of Minnesota on August 25 will be going to the Real Pirates exhibit. Participants can don their pirate hats and climb aboard a recreation of a pirate ship. They can meet members of the Whydah's crew and explore what life was like on a real pirate ship. In Real Pirates: The Untold Story of the Whydah from Slave Ship to Pirate Ship, you'll discover the perils and privileges of 18th century pirate life. Dive into the wreck of the Whydah to discover the true stories of Captain Bellamy and his crew through more than 200 fascinating artifacts in the world's first exhibition of authentic pirate treasure!
The bus tour to the Minnesota History Center on August 18, will go to St. Paul to visit their exhibit Minnesota’s Greatest Generation. The exhibit highlights include: viewing classic film clips in a 1930s-style movie theater; get behind the counter of a 1930s soda fountain; watch a recreation of a World War II combat flight in a C-47 plane; join a “Rosie the Riveter” style assembly line packing ammunition shells; see an M-8 armored vehicle and a 1955 Ford sedan, both produced at the St. Paul Ford plant. The project is designed to inform and inspire current and future generations about Minnesota's Greatest Generation.
The drawings will take place on July 27. Two seats for the bus tour will be given to each winner. Please only one entry per person. Children must be 8 years old or older and be accompanied by an adult. Winners will be called shortly after the drawings.
These are free Legacy Programs funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008 which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota’s art and cultural heritage.
