Get your kids ready to head back to school @ your library

As the Brainerd Lakes Area students head back to school this September, the Brainerd Public Library wants to make sure that all children have the most important school supply- a library card.

Owning a library card provides students the resources they need to compete academically. Nationally, the average library user takes out more than seven books a year . . . but users turn to their libraries for more than books: to borrow DVDs, to learn new computer skills, to conduct job searches, and to participate in the activities of local and community organizations.

When children ten years old and under sign up for their first library card in September they will have the opportunity to receive a canvas book bag and a free book of their own!   The Brainerd Public Library has partnered with the Crow Wing County United Way to distribute books from the national Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Program.  Children are able to chose their own book and receive a canvas bag donated by an anonymous library supporter who is committed to helping children read.

So join the over 12,000 Brainerd Library Card Holders and get a library card today!  For more information on how to sign up for a library card, visit the Brainerd Public Library in person or visit the library online at www.krls.org
