Sarah Stonich is the seventh and final author in the Friends of the Brainerd Public Library Brown Bag Lunch Summer Authors' Series. She will appear at the library on Monday, July 25, from noon to 1pm. Feel free to bring a bag lunch or enjoy the light refreshments. All are welcome, and there is no charge.
Stonich will be talking about her latest book, Shelter. This is her non-fiction account of building a small cabin in the far north woods of Minnesota. Her progress and pitfalls are written with in an interesting and humorous way. She also describes the local inhabitants she meets during the project. But Shelter is also a satisfying exploration of family, immigration and middle-age romance in the age of online dating services.
Stonich is best known for her two novels-These Granite Islands and The Ice Chorus. Both were very well-received stories set in northern Minnesota.
