WALKER - No citizens appeared Thursday night at Cass County Board's public hearing to present and receive comments on the proposed 2013 county budget and levy.
The board expects to adopt the budget and levy as proposed at the 10 a.m. Dec.
WALKER - Cass County commissioners will conduct a public hearing at the board's 10 a.m. Nov. 18 meeting Dec. 18 at the courthouse in Walker in preparation to adopting changes to three county zoning ordinances.
BACKUS - Sheriff Tom Burch informed the Cass County Board Tuesday he has been disappointed by the fact only 490 people have signed up in the last year for emergency notifications from his department under the Nixle program.
BACKUS - Land Commissioner Joshua Stevenson reported Tuesday the county sold 584 acres of land from January 2011 through October 2012 and purchased 785 acres during the same time period.
He considers acreages the county sold to be non-conservation land.
HACKENSACK - Hackensack Fire and Rescue will lose its two top officers when a new fire chief is elected Dec. 11.
Clarence "Butch" Moore will retire after 30 years as a firefighter, over 20 of which he has served as chief.

through the end of 2012.
The board moved the Nov. 20 meeting to 9 a.m. Nov.
