WALKER — Kevin Beal of Hackensack came to the Cass County Board Tuesday to ask, “Who is in charge of cleaning up Leech Lake following (the annual) Eel-pout Festival?”
Having already met with the city of Walker’s Park Board, he said it is his view that no one seems to be in charge.
Calls to cass sheriff up 8 percent
BACKUS - Cass County Sheriff's Office received 18,812 calls for service in 2012, according to Sheriff Tom Burch's annual report.
That is an 8 percent increase over 2011.
Cass Land Department issues annual report
BACKUS - While revenue from timber sales has declined recently, Cass County Land Department has increased its revenues by selling more land.
This does not mean the county owns less land, however.

WALKER - Cass County Board Tuesday voted to continue working with the county Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) on projects of mutual interest.
