BACKUS - Land Commissioner Joshua Stevenson reported Tuesday the county sold 584 acres of land from January 2011 through October 2012 and purchased 785 acres during the same time period.
He considers acreages the county sold to be non-conservation land.
HACKENSACK - Hackensack Fire and Rescue will lose its two top officers when a new fire chief is elected Dec. 11.
Clarence "Butch" Moore will retire after 30 years as a firefighter, over 20 of which he has served as chief.
Cass County schedules meeting changes

WALKER - Cass County commissioners have changed their meeting schedule
through the end of 2012.
The board moved the Nov. 20 meeting to 9 a.m. Nov.

BACKUS - Cass County Assistant Highway Engineer Kris Lyytinen reported to the county board Tuesday that the county last week received its FEMA check for storm damage the county sustained to county roads in a June heavy rain event.
BACKUS - Tim Richardson, central services director, obtained Cass County Board approval Tuesday to purchase new hardware and software to replace the county's 1997 Enhance 911 emergency service reporting system.
