Most people like to go south for spring break. Not me. I don't want to miss out on this great late ice fishing. And even though the snow has just begun to melt and we have more than 3 feet of ice, the bite is on.
Since the weatherman was saying we were supposed to break the freezing mark this week I decided it would be a good time to head north to beat the heat.
On Tuesday we headed to Lake of the Woods to do some fishing with the Up North crew.
This winter two phrases have been overused, polar vortex and global warming. That's all everyone talks about is the horrible weather. Yes, the cold is getting to be a bit much but there is nothing we can do about it so you might as well embrace it.
I guess time fly's when your having fun, or just trying to get through this winter without frostbite.
You are really seeing a lot less fisherman on the lake compared to a normal year, at least it seems like it to me.

Well, I finally got sick of dealing with poor ice conditions and headed to Red Lake with Jason and Kristilee from Up North Media to check out the Otter Train.
It's Minnesota, that's what my answer has been to all the phone calls I've gotten about ice conditions.
People cannot believe that after all the below zero temps that we still have bad ice. Yep, we still have slush and thin ice in places.
