Ben Newman sees the world a little differently. He plays hockey a little differently, too. The junior center for the Little Falls Flyers boys hockey team became the 18th member of the Flyers' 100 career point club this season.

Chris Ortman missed all the fun last season. That wasn't the case this season. The Pierz Pioneers' sophomore was coming off a state tournament appearance as an eighth-grader only to have his freshman year derailed with an elbow injury.

Emily Miron is lucky No. 8. And by the time the junior is done she'll likely be No. 2. Miron surpassed the 1,000-point career scoring milestone Feb. 23 in the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines' 57-19 victory over Park Rapids.

Dan Babineau disposed of a few nemeses this season. Babineau lost to Connor Scherping of Little Falls twice during the regular season, and had lost in previous years to Austin Walz of Sauk Rapids.

Marlee Moore was quick to give the assist to Bethany Cressman. With the defensive eyes locked on Cressman, Moore exploded for 31 points in the Lake Region Christian Hornets' 61-44 victory over Fourth Baptist Feb. 17.

Maria Hauer is no stranger to big meets. The four-year varsity Nordic skier for the Little Falls Flyers had competed in three state meets prior to Thursday's state finale. What had eluded Hauer was success in those big meets.

Nathan Holm went from not on the list to the top of the list this season The list was Pine River-Backus' list of 1,000-point scorers for the Tigers boys basketball program. Holm entered the season needing 210 points to crack 1,000 career points.
