The Minnesota Index, after shifting into high gear in December and January, has downshifted during the last two months.

In March, Minnesota’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell one tenth of a percentage point to 5.4 percent.

During fourth quarter 2012, employers reported a total of 58,864 vacancies, up 18.00 percent from fourth quarter 2011. This is the highest number of vacancies during a fourth quarter survey round since 2005.

According to the 2010 2nd quarter census of all firms covered by Minnesota’s unemployment insurance program, total employment was still down over the same quarter a year earlier by 16,654 to 2,578,487.  Read more... (Sept 19 - page formatting updated, data not updated.)
